Real
Estate Appraisals

Actively appraising since 1972, I (R. Marvin Dailey, MAI, SRA) am the principal
of the Dailey Appraisal Group, and have been involved in the real estate business
as a salesman, broker, and investor since the mid 1960s. I became affiliated
with the Society of Real Estate Appraisers in the mid 1970s, earning the SRA
designation in 1977. That designation stands as the foremost residential designation
in the world.
In 1987 I earned the Society's non-residential designation,
the SRPA (Senior Real Property Appraiser. I became affiliated
with the American Institute
of Real Estate Appraisers in 1983, earning the MAI designation in 1987. The
Society and American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers
have since joined to form the
Appraisal Institute, now the leading designation granting body in the country,
if not the world. The MAI designation remains the definitive non-residential
designation (all types of real property) as does the SRA with respect to residential
appraising. The SRPA is no longer granted but those holding the designation
are permitted to use it.
I have a profound interest in professionalism and have taught many of the appraisal
courses and seminars including some of the earliest seminars on the Uniform
Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. In the late 1980s I served on
the committee
that wrote the appraiser certification legislation now the law in the State
of New York.
Under my leadership, the company has been very active in
residential and nonresidential real estate appraising, including
completion of several medium
and large projects in connection with right of way expansions, the earliest
and most prolific of which took place in New York State.
I have testified in many
trials on behalf of government agencies, in both New York and Florida, and,
as a former law clerk, am well acquainted with litigation
procedures and rules of
evidence. I continue to pursue that avenue of the profession in my eight years
of practice since I have made the State of Florida my full-time effort.
I require
the same attention to detail and adherence to ethical and quality standards
of those who prepare or assist in the preparation of appraisals
on the company's'
behalf that I demand of my own work.
